Updated: Mar 23, 2022

Fountain of Peace Children's Foundation is located in Kyenjojo District and is about making a difference, now and in the future, for orphaned and abandoned children in Uganda

Watch How we went Through With the Project

Why Fountain of peace decided to adapt to Clean Cooking

Bethel Babies' Home has two sections, The section of the Nursery school and the section that is reserved as the babies' home where the children spend most of their day. The school section has a kitchen that feeds up to 200 Children. The Home Section has six well established individual domitories with a kitchen each, that accomodate up to 10 children each with 2 care takers.

The Entire foundation was relying on Wood fuel cut with in the neighborhood to prepare Childrens Meals, This exposed the entire neighborhood to Deforestation and land Degredation. More to that The available cooking Stoves where of poor quality and could consume alot of Wood fuel accompanied With alot of smoke in the cooking areas.

This situation exposed the foundaion to Smoke related respiratory and optical disease amongst the care takers and the children at large, Hence there was need to handle the situation in due time.

Project Excecution

With the surport of Donars and organisation Funders, We managed to construct for the foundation 1(one) In built 2-Buners Solar aided cook stove at each of the Childrens Homes and A four Burners with an Oven Solar Aided stove for the School community.

Project Results:

  • The foundation was using 4(Four) Trucks of firewood per month, But since the adaption to solar aided stoves, the foundation now uses only one truck of firewood per month.

  • A smokeless cooking Environment is one of the davantages that came with the Solar aided cooking technology.

  • The Stoves Came with an economic Value of saving on the ammount of money previously spent on cookig wood fuel That is now channeled to other foundation activites.
