Piloting The Project 

Introducing The Save Energy Grow Fruit Trees Project

The Project was introduced by Rotary club of Soroti central with Combined effort from rotary club of Santa rosa East west California with a major objective of providing Environment clean cooking solutions and carrying out reaffoerestation Programs .

Pilot Project Activities

  • Sensitization of communities in Soroti District about the dangers and effects of deforestation caused by search of wood cooking fuels. 

  • Spotting out and Selecting Major affected communities in Soroti and Kaberamaido District 

  • Assessing how far the communities had contributed to the extent of deforestation in the region 

  • Provision of both domestic and institutional Sustainable energy Saving cooking solutions to these communities 

  • Periodic Monitoring and evaluation of how the provided systems where Helping cut down the rate of deforestation in the region

Donating Domestic And Institutional Energy Saving Stoves 

Rotary Club Soroti Central and Rotary Club Santa Rosa Eat west California donated 3 (Three) Institutional Sustainable Energy saving solar aided stoves to 3 schools, Teso collage secondary, Kaberamaido Secondary and Halcyon Secondary school

25 Domestic Sustainable and Improved Energy saving Volcanic Rocks and solar power aided stoves where also donated to 20 individual families from the school communities 

Construction of 1 in built Institutional Double Burner Volcanic Rocks and Solar power Aided stoves (VRSPACS) in 3 schools each 

Donation Of Domestic Energy Saving Stoves 

Rotary Club Soroti Central and Santa Rosa East West America Donated 25 Inproved Smoke free energy saving Volcanic rocks and solar power aided stoves to 25 farmilies in The school communities of Halcyon, Teso Collage and kaberamaido. 
 

These families had to quantify the amount of Wood charcoal they where previously using and compare it to the amount used with the solar aided stoves 

to obtain results for the Future projects

"I was Using 5 Basins of charcoal every month before Rotary gave me the solar aided stove. Today I only use 1.5 basin of charcoal per month. Some times I just Collect Un wanted  charcoal dust ,Mix it with the Volcanic Rocks and Prepare my meals"

"The stove cooks very fast and saves a lot on the daily charcoal consumption. In this family we usually used firewood which could make our eyes and nose feel bad. But now we have a smoke free and safe stove to use for cooking. thanks rotary."
